I’m Ready to Play Fair

A wise woman once told me that Southwest’s Business Plan was written on a napkin. Instinctively, I believed her. Naturally, I wanted to know if it was true. But really, I didn’t want to see if she was wrong. ‘Cause how often is your favorite airline, the one headquartered in Dallas — Dallas LUV Field, the root of all lies?

To understand what I’m talking about, imagine a world without coffee. I loved coffee so much…too much. To the point where I was ready to give it up. But then, I found a really strong coffee that I couldn’t get enough of and decided to give it a try. My Husband and I did a taste test…back in the day, they used to call it the Pepsi-Taste-Test or the Coca-Cola-Taste-Test…I really don’t remember (I haven’t acquired the taste for either of them).

Anyway, it took me back to the time when He and I shared our first Starbucks coffee. He used to say he hated coffee. But, now he drinks it because of me. Well, it may be because he likes it– I don’t know?

The coffee is an Alon Market Blend. It’s one of their signature blends of South American and Hawaiian Coffee Beans. It’s smooth, fruity, full-bodied, and has a clean finish. It’s exclusively sold at OUR H-E-B. I like to call it, “KONA FANCY,” even though it’s not that fancy at all.

I made two cups for him using the same coffee grounds, and let him try them first. One really strong, and one a little weaker. He chose the really strong one. Guess which one I liked. Okay, you probably already know. I liked the one he liked, but because I liked it– not because he did.

You never know if you’re going to like something unless you give it a chance. The truth about Love and Coffee is that sometimes you do things you don’t want to do to make others happy. Keep in mind it’s the way you do it that counts. I once made him eat a tomato on my birthday, it’s a really funny story; but, that’s a blog post for another time.

For now, I’ll just reminisce about the love I have for my Starbucks Lover or is it, the “long list of ex-lovers,” as Taylor Swift has confirmed? Confirmations bring peace to the mind. In case you’re still wondering, yes, Southwest Business Corporation’s business plan was written on a napkin. But, don’t you wish you would have just trusted me?
